Andrews, Benny (American, 1930-2006). NEW YORK CAFE. Lithograph, 1966. Associated American Artists edition of 250, signed, titled and numbered in pencil. 10 3/8 x 14 1/4 inches. In very good condition. 

Andrews was an African-American painter and graphic artist. He was born in Georgia, educated in Chicago, where he received his BFA from the Art Institute, and lived in New York where he taught at Queens College and was the Director of  the Visual Arts program of the National Endowment for the Arts.  He was one of the founders of the Black Emergency Cultural Coalition, an organization which sought to increase the representation of Black artists in museum collections and as museum curators.
