This series of drypoints builds on recent hard-edged paintings of the same name - Construction. In the paintings, connected planes of color construct quasi-architectural spaces whose axonometric geometry plays with flatness and schematic depth, resisting settling into naturalized space. In the drypoints, however, the process and the geometry gets a repetitive, obsessive, calligraphic treatment, trading the more solid structure of the paintings for the restless ephemeral movement and agitated becoming of the accumulative marks. To me the Construction prints evoke the struggle of building a world – new spaces — from the shattered parts of the old one. Jeff Perrott, October 2021
