Susan G. Scott, born in Montreal, is a dual citizen of the US and Canada. Scott’s work of the past 10 years has shifted away from the figure into landscape paintings based on plein air studies. Inventing a way to combine her concentration on Western art history with the philosophical methodology of Chinese scroll landscapes has been the substance of Scott’s most recent works. These paintings present a dialogue on the process of painting itself, from the experience and documentation of the subject, to the refining process of the final paintings.
