B.J.O. NORDFELDT (Swedish/American 1878 – 1955)
(WINDMILL AND WORKERS). c.1900. Color pastel on colored pape, unsigned. 22 ¼ x 15”. Sheet: 24 ½ x 18 ¼”. In 1900 Nordfeldt studied in
Paris and then headed to England to study with F. Morley Fletcher. The subject is presumably Breton. Meech and Gabriel, in “Japonisme Comes to
America”, 1990, comment on the influence of Breton as well as Henri Riviérè on the young Nordfeldt. Provenance: Member of Nordfeldt Family,
