Valtyrson's striking still life was created in an edition of just 30. Erling Valtyrson (Norwegian, b. 1955) Valtryson was educated at the State Art and Crafts School in Bergen and the West Art Academy in Bergen. He works as a graphic designer and is known internationally for his detailed mezzotints. Erling Valtyrson gained international recognition for his use of the mezzotint technique. He works within a rich motivational world, including still life, landscape and portraits. The molding language is characterized by transitions and the use of light and shadow to build up the shapes. His themes reference surrealism, Flemish values and the traditional landscape tradition. Erling Valtyrson is represented in the collection of, among others, the National Museum of Art , Norwegian Cultural Council, Bergen Art Museum, the Rogaland Art Museum and the Musee Jenisch, the Cabinet of Estampes, Switzerland.
