The image depicts the festival at the culmination of Passion Week. The traditional mourning procession proceeds through the streets of Ronda as the crowd carrying banners with the crucified Christ approaches. Shadows cast by dark figures in pointed canonical hats add an eerie tone to the composition. A Spanish Good Friday is one of the iconic images of the British Etching Revival.
