Rooftops, by Fred Mershimer, is, in my opinion, one of his best mezzotints, and certainly one of his grandest. Depicting the rather dull and uninteresting roofline of row houses in Brooklyn, he manages to capture the delicate and raw beauty of the tar roofs and skylights. Created from 4 plates: 2 mezzotints printed in black and pale blue and 2 aquatints printed in red and green.
