J. Alden Weir, Amer., (1852-1919), Washington Arch No. 2, Etching with Aquatint, ca.1892, Z.75, N. 79, 7 x 4-5/8, on thin grayish laid paper, a proof printed by Caro Weir Ely ca. 1926-7, no formal edition, proofs only. A fascinating and moody view of the famous Washington Arch under construction, the scaffolding surrounding the arch clearly present. Constructed in 1892, the Washington Arch was designed by Stanford White, who's firm also designed the dining room addition for Weir's Branchville, CT home, which I had the pleasure of dining in once! Descended in the family of the artist.
