Signed and dated in the plate. Signed in pencil "F.B." and also with the artist's red owl stamp. (Lugt 977) This superb, luminous impression is also inscribed by the artist, "épreuve d'essai du 4e état après la planche coupée et avant le retouche du ciel." ('Proof of the fourth state after the plate was cut but before the reworking of the sky.') The condition is fine and the margins are wide and probably untrimmed. This large and impressive work is here seen in a outstanding impression.
