Siegfried Schott, 'Theater', German Expressionist woodcut, with original hand-coloring in watercolor, circa 1921, edition 200. Unsigned as published.

Published in 'Kundung: Eine Zeitschrift fur Kunst', a deluxe art review which featured expressionist works. The publication was edited by Rosa Schapire and Wilhelm Niemeyer, both art historians, and designed by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, who also contributed several woodcuts. Rosa Schapire, a close friend of Schmidt-Rottluff, produced the standard catalogue raisonné of his prints. Siegfried Schott created six woodcuts for this 'Magazine for Art'—'Theater' is considered his masterpiece.

Illustrated in 'German Expressionist Prints and Drawings, The Robert Gore Rifkind Center for German Expressionist Studies, Catalogue of the Collection', Bruce Davis, Los Angeles Museum of Art, Prestel, 1989: page 688.

Other impressions of this work are in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.
