“Landscape 1”is a painterly gestural abstract monoprint, evocative of the riotous color and hallucinatory power of the garden in midsummer. It is printed in vivid reds, blues, and violet on 100% rag paper, signed in pencil, lower right corner. The image size is 20” x 16”. Richard Giglio’s monotypes are a synthesis of his life long passion for drawing from live models, the rhythm of great jazz music and the pulse of contemporary culture. Giglio said there were three major influences in his life and art: Henri Matisse, Billie Holiday and Maria Callas.
