Woodcut printed in colors, 2022, edition 30. 15 3/4 x 19 3/4 in. Signed, dated, titled and numbered in pencil. This is a fine impression with full margins. The condition is excellent. Postma studied woodcut technique at the Academie Minerva in Groningen with Wim van Veen. The reduction method, as opposed to the multiple block approach, employs one block with the darkest color being printed first and the complete edition of perhaps twenty is fully printed. From there, cuts are made in the block and the next lightest color is printed for the entire edition on the same sheets of paper. This process continues so that ultimately, the block is almost completely cut away and the lightest colors are the last to be printed. The effects are subtle layering of colors with little margin for error. More recently, as Postma continues to refine her technique, she will start with a few light colors, then dark, then working back to light again. This is a time consuming process that she has mastered with great success.
