After considering several directions for her first fine art print edition with Stewart & Stewart, Mary Prince painstakingly created a paper collage maquette over several months specifically for this “Schoodic Point” limited edition print. The maquette was digitally captured twice, once with longitudinally oriented lighting and once with latitudinally oriented lighting to minimize cast shadows from the collaged paper forms. The two captured files were merged and extensive digital manipulation was performed to meet the artist's desire for a stylized look of the overall image. After the artist approved the completed image file, it was used to create a printed proof. The image file of the printed proof underwent additional articulation to earn the artist's final approval. The final image file was then used to create the limited edition of 25 fine art prints on premium Somerset Museum Rag paper, (archival, 100% cotton, acid-free).
The completed image was made possible through the artist's incorporation of digital technology in realizing her personal vision, without the limitations and compromises associated with traditional printmaking techniques.
All Stewart & Stewart fine art print publications are signed/numbered by the artist and include matching signed/numbered documentation with extensive curatorial details.
