MIsch Kohn, (1916-2002), Lion, Sugar Lift Ground Aquatint and Engraving, 1957, Ed. 30, H. 197, 17-3/4 x 29-5/8, signed, titled and numbered 30 imp. in pencil, on thin grayish chine colle, on a warm white wove Whatman watermarked support sheet measuring 26-1/4 x 37-1/4, marginal rippling to sheet from hinging, light toning within mat opening, and remnants of brown kraft paper water tape to edges from stretching and drying after printing. There was also an Ed. of 15 printed in relief. A large and impressive subject akin to Kohn's famous "Tiger", his "Lion" too has a fierce presence, but is more rhythmic with it's boldly swirling calligraphic lines stand up in relief from the printed surface.
