Refences: Dutuit, Hollstein 15, third state of three with the roulette work added. The two previous states are very rare.

Provenance: N. Rapp (Lugt suppl. 2130a).  Watermark : Arms of Amsterdam

A fine impression with small margins all round. The top and left margins thin, the left margin edge reinforced in places and a short repaired tear in the inscription space, otherwise in good condition. 282 x 253mm.

Dusart was one of the chief exponents of Dutch genre scenes, both painted and etched, of the generation after Adrian van Ostade. The addition of roulette work, a sort of fore-runner of mezzotint, to this plate gives the subject an intimate atmosphere and effectively manipulates the spacial relationships.
