plate below image, 44 x 33.2cm. Old fold and slight stains to image, repaired
tears and missing portions to margins. Laid down on acid-free tissue.
This image of Saint
Christopher was published by Claudio Duchetti (active in Venice and Rome
c1565-1585). French-born Duchetti was a print dealer and publisher. He
commissioned plates from a number of prominent artists, including Perret,
Thomassin and Brambilla. He also acquired plates from previous publishers. Ref:

Agostino Veneziano
was the only major artist “whose career spanned the whole period which saw the
birth of the reproductive print, and the beginnings of the ‘industrialization’
