[Queensboro Bridge – From Manhattan]

c1935. Etching, monogrammed in plate upper right, signed in pencil in lower margin, 22.6 x 27.8cm. Tape to upper margin, evidence of printer’s ink fingerprints to margins, old mount burn.

Japanese-born artist and illustrator Nakamizo learned printmaking from Joseph Pennell. Employed under the Federal Public Works of Art Project during the 1930s, Nakamizo’s work was included in several exhibitions held in various venues including the Chicago Institute of Art, and the Brooklyn Museum and Montross Gallery in New York City. During WWII Nakamizo was interned at the Japanese-American internment camp in Topaz, Utah. Work held in Library of Congress.
