Ramasseurs de Bouts de Cigares au Pont de Grenelle (original French title)
Aquatint, soft-ground, and etching on laid paper.
Reference: Morane 38.
Fifth state of five. Edition of 50 likely. The face of the man was also used by Armand Seguin in a print titled “Le Mendiant”, which he etched while learning the finer points of soft-ground etching from Delavallée in the winter of 1891-92.
Signed and numbered in pencil.
Pronounced and somewhat uneven toning inside a prior mat window. The sheet was conserved, but some discoloration has proven persistent. While we are not often inclined to acquire less than well-preserved prints, this one has become scarce, and the overall attractiveness of this impression is still being unmistakable. It remains a very attractive object in our biased opinion. Priced according to its less-than-perfect condition.
Plate size: 10 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.
