Eugene C Fitsch, Amer., (1892-1972), Resignation, Etching, 1925, Ed. no more than 30, 6 x 9, on smooth cream wove simili vellum paper, old brown paper tape hinges to corners recto, signed, dated and titled in pencil. A moody and sensuous print by Fitsch, who studied panting and then printmaking with Mahonri Young at the Art Student's League, eventually replacing him as a teacher of etching there in 1924. He became extensively involved with the theater and dance, designing sets and working with many famous performers of the day. Many of his prints have a theatrical flair or show activity behind the scenes, such as the present example.
