Jane E. Goldman: Biographical Sketch
Jane E. Goldman was born in Dallas, Texas in 1951 and
received a BA degree from Smith College and an MFA from the University of
Wisconsin. Goldman is a founding partner of Mixit Print Studio, an open access
studio (1987-present) in Somerville, Massachusetts. A nationally recognized painter and printmaker, she
has taught at Massachusetts College of Art, UCLA, Rice University, and Hartford
Art School; and been a visiting artist at many
institutions including Harvard University and Artist Proof Studio, South
Africa. She has made commissioned editions for the Flint Institute of Arts, the
University of Dallas, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Goldman has designed terrazzo floors for three public art installations for Boston's Logan Airport; for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority in Providence, Rhode Island, and for the Open Air Museum in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
She has received grants from the Massachusetts Council on the Arts Sea Grant College Programs of Woods Hole Ocean Institute and M.I.T.; and fellowships from MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, Ireland, the Oberpfalzer Kunstlerhaus in Schwandorf, Germany, and the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, France. Goldman has exhibited widely in the United States and abroad since 1975.
Goldman's work is in over sixty public collections, including The Bibliothèque Nationale de France (Paris), Brooklyn Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Flint Institute of Arts, Harvard Art Museums, Cleveland Museum of Art, Detroit Institute of Arts, the Library of Congress; and the Peabody-Essex Museum.
