Study of a Woman's Head by J. Alden Weir, Amer., (1852-1919), Etching, 1888, Z. 50, 5-3/16 x 4-16, signed with initials and dated 88 in the plate l.r., on thick cream laid paper, printed by J. Alden Weir and trimmed within the platemark by the artist, designated by his initials in pencil lower left corner verso, a fine delicate impression in a warm brown black ink, from the collection of Anna Weir Ely Smith, exhibited at the Ridgefield Public Library Oct. 1991 in Quiet Observations: Etchings & Drypoints of J.Alden Weir in the Collection of Anna Weir Ely Smith. A tender, intimate portrait of Weir's first wife Anna Dwight Baker, in a rare lifetime impression, printed by the artist and descended in his family.
