SURREALIST WOMAN DEAD IN A TREASURE BOX, 1917 Aquatint, Proof no. 17.  Aquatint in brown. This is a rare signed proof impression. Signed and dated in pencil and in the plate. 9” x 8 3/8 inches. Sheet 16 1/2 x 13 5/8 inches. on a stiff wove paper. A beautiful rich impression. Trace of minor foxing in the margins. There is a subsequent unsigned version with a printed publication line.

Teschner's prints are scarce. He had a small but very intense output of late symbolist prints.  He was also known as a member of the Viennese Jugendstil movement and a painter. He is most known as a revolutionary puppeteer and puppet designer.
