Etching, drypoint and aquatint printed in colors, 1903, Tabanelli 110, edition 50 plus proofs. 11 5/8 x 18 1/4 in. Signed in the plate, upper left corner. Signed in pencil and inscribed "epreuve," lower left. This is a fine impression printed on a cream Japan paper. The margins are substantial but somewhat trimmed. Fine condition. Along with Jacques Villon, James Tissot, and Toulouse-Lautrec, Chahine was one of the best portrayers of the images associated with la belle époque. (More than half of Chahine's prints were destroyed in a 1926 studio fire and even more were destroyed in a 1942 flood.) The print was published by Sagot but their blindstamp is not showing here.
