Lithographs

When it comes to creating freeform multiples in printmaking there is little doubt that lithography has been the technique of choice for artists, ever since its rise to prominence in the 19t century. By using crayons and brushes alike, and even with the help of some abrasion when necessary, it is possible to draw on stone (or zinc) in ways that resemble drawing and painting. This has led artists to create the most diverse bodies of art in printmaking in lithography. Both colored, since the late 19th century, and monochromatically, artists of all genres have used this most versatile of techniques to render their artistic vision. Because of its diversity, there is no chance you will get to the bottom of this list without finding something that speaks to you.
